VOLUNTEERING

SCHOOL COMMUNICATIONS

The PTO regularly updates our Facebook Page in addition to sending Remind text messages as well as emails.  If you haven't already signed up for our email communications, please email us or complete the contact information here.

In addition to volunteering through the PTO, there are numerous ways that you can volunteer at the School, including but not limited to:

Tutors - Woodsdale Elementary had an astounding 75 tutors last year. If you have a couple hours per week to help with reading skills, please consider being a parent volunteer tutor.

Library / Media - Mrs. Wiseman is always in need of volunteers to help put away books and follow-up with students who have not turned in borrowed books.

Book Fair - While the PTO provides Mrs. Wiseman with volunteers for this event, the PTO receives no proceeds from this event.  Volunteers help students find age-appropriate books, list them on their "wish list," and collect money the week the books come in.

School Store - The school store will return this year. It will be open on Wednesday mornings from 8:40 - 9:30 a.m. if we can find a volunteer.

Family Folders - We will once again be sending Family Folders home on Thursday with the youngest child in the family. If you are available on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., Nora Edinger can use some help putting papers in the family folders. We will need a new chair next year as Nora will be moving on.

We have had to shut down some of the previous services we offerd like School Store, ASEP and Banking because we didn't have enough volunteers to to provide the services to our students. Please volunteer your time, no matter how small so we don't have to stop providing important programs to our children.

PTO IN THE SCHOOL

Over the past few years, the PTO has done so many projects in the school.  There have been  numerous complaints over the years about all of our fundraising activities.

In addition to agendas, the PTO pays for the t-shirts that the children wear on field trips.  The PTO spends more than $3,500 on these two items alone.

Over the past few years, we have donated money to the school's Locker Fund to help help get lockers into our school. Our goal is for every child to have locker in which to store his/her belongings.

The PTO completely funded the school's step project which included the math problems on the steps to the second floor. Our students have an opportunity to learn, even while walking up steps.

Unfortunately, without numerous, and profitable,

fundraising activites, we cannot provide things to our children or help to improve the school.

We need your help us to continue to offer these types of items and programs.

SCHOOL BREAKFAST

As a reminder, Woodsdale students are now eligible for free Breakfast and Lunch.

Breakast will be held from 8:40 - 9:00 with Grab 'n Go from 9:00 - 9:30, and last chance from 10:00 - 10:40.

It is important that we demonstrate utilization of this wonderful benefit in order not to lose eligibility status. This is also a great way to introduce new foods to your child.
